Dork Irene/Renie:
This is a very difficult portion of our space to develop, perhaps the hardest thus far. Anyone who knows me would tell you for certain, I am the epitomy of a dork (dog dork being only a sub-classification). They would also tell you that I am aware I am a super dork, and have been very happy being a super dork for my entire life. This is not a new realization for me. No earth shattering moment of embracing the dork in me, nothing like that.
This is simply our place in space to share with you, let you share with us, let us help out rescue organizations, and have some fun doing something we truly love and believe in.
For me, RESCUED is a breed. As my photos scroll thorough, you will see some of the dogs of my past. I will be adding more as I can scan them. All of these animals came from Stevens Swan Humane Society (Utica NY), or were found by my father (and one my mother) as wayward little soul along the way of life that needed a forever home, and that is what they got with our family. One of the nicest things anyone has ever said to me was my friend Brian, he said “When I die, I want to come back as one of your dogs.” I can not imagine my life without a dog. In fact, there is no life without a dog for me.
I have known DORK Renee likely 35 years now?!?!? My parent’s always liked her more than me. I have moved her away from home and back to home more times than I care to remember (those memories will likely turn up in a blog), I have been her prawn in many an escapade and for some god forsaken reason, she can ALWAYS get me to go along with ANY of her plans, regardless of how CRAZY they may be.
I’m sure it is a best friend thing somewhere in there. Although not related by blood, our families adopted one another long ago, and we are stuck with one another now until the bitter end.
We will hopefully one day be these two old crazy dog ladies, who order up rolling lint brushes by the crate, have a veterinarian on staff (and a cook) spending our days rescuing and rehabbing animals and doing public education animal humane programs. There is nothing we love more than animals and their cause.
Currently, I have a rescued white german shepard named Hercules. I came across him in my travels when I was out of town working and he was 11 months old. He needed a home, I had a home, I took him home. He just turned 10. He had a very very difficult first 11 months of his life, but I turned him around, taught him how to be a good dog and he is my Prince Charming Hercules Popadopolous. Hercules is neurotic and quite serious about most things. He still does act silly for him momma, his gramma and his favorite vet, Dr. Cheever. BUT THAT’S IT!!!!!!! He is man’s man!
I also have an Australian Shepard Mix named TaLuLaBelle Marie. She is a rescue from Wanderers Rest in Madison County, NY. She was 5 weeks old, an abandoned litter (mommy birthed in the wild and got hit by a car, the warden found the litter). Hercules needed a another dog. We had donated to this shelter through work prior, so when the time came, that is where I went. She is now 8 ½ and my little princess girlfriend. She is very funny.
So, that is just a little about me, Dork Irene, a super dork from birth.
